In the last few years, many social media platforms have launched that pay you to use them! In this article, we explore some of these platforms and give a rundown on our thoughts using them.
For the last few months, we have been using an array of different crypto social media. An interesting thought has arisen; now you can earn crypto by blogging, streaming and minding, how hard really would it be to start from scratch with no crypto and earn crypto using only social media’s and brave.
Well, we’ve been experiencing it first-hand we are on a few different new age social sites, listed below.
Publish0x
This site is a blog for all things, but it has a lot of art and crypto stuff along with just general entertainment. I love the layout and function of the site it has pretty decent sorting and word processing. For getting some crypto, it is ok after about 10 posts you earn around 1usd. The top posts on the site reaching about 6USD. As the site grows its user base however I think we will see these numbers increase.
I would highly recommend Publish0x we had an overall great experience with it.
Minds
Minds is a pretty solid replacement for twitter, it now lets you withdraw your mind tokens directly in the app for ETH which is pretty cool. We’ve only had about a week with minds and made a few pennies, but it is a lot more than you make on twitter. You can also chose to spend the earned minds tokens to boost your posts 1 minds token is 1000 impressions. Minds has the best interface, even having a well put together app for both ios and android.
Steemit
Steemit is by far the most confusing platform I have ever used; it is a bit of a mess with many front ends that interact with the same posts. But there is that ever tempting fact that those with large followings on the site make around 200 USD a post. How much of this ends up in their pockets I don’t know. We’ve been on it a few months, but it is a hard one to crack people tend to spam a lot and real posts get lost in the madness.
This isn’t to mention the overzealous Cheeta bot, which will come after you for any amount of small infractions on the site rules. It feels like moderation by shaming which makes for a less than a fun experience.
Other mentions
I’ve tried a few others as well such as sapiens which felt good but very tech-heavy on content if that’s what you are after check it out https://www.sapien.network/.
So, the question is how long it would take to work your way up with one of these platforms. A long time I reckon, given that 16 posts got us about 1.50 USD on publish0x, Steemit maybe about 1 USD in a 3-month time scale. You could easily earn about 24 USD a year who knows maybe minds will show more cash. Only time will tell. I will be writing a follow up to this article after 3 months to show how it has gone.
There is another project which changes the way we earn online too which is brave browser, now this one is very good, I’ve been earning about 5 USD a month in BAT. This is all just for using my browser as normal. It has made it very difficult to go back to using Chrome or any browser that doesn’t pay. If you haven’t downloaded it already follow this link it has ad block and lots of other features built in. BRAVE LINK
I think platforms like minds, publish0x and steemit are the same after we build up following and start earning how could we possibly go back to twitter. Even if the incentive is only 12 USD per month it is infinitely more than twitter gives us. This new setup has the power to topple the Social media giants these platforms just need more users.
Once people start earning, they won’t be able to go back to the old way. Just think if you’ve been using a new smartphone go have a look at the first one you ever got, how small the screen used to be.
So, can you grind your way to crypto social media riches? not quite yet but we are well on our way and the future of this space looks very bright.
